President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaev on a courtesy call at San Anton Palace, this being the first official visit by a Macedonian high-level official to Malta.
The President said that Malta believes that the Republic of Macedonia is an important player in the Western Balkan region and that Malta views the Western Balkan region as an integral part of the European Union.
On a bilateral level, President Coleiro Preca said that Malta looks forward to enhancing the excellent bilateral relations on a more tangible level, in order to bring our peoples together through business and travel connections, amongst others. The President said that the direct link to Skopje is an encouraging factor which is already in place, bringing our peoples and businesses closer, and enabling the establishment of sustainable friendships and collaborations.
President Coleiro Preca stated that she looks forward to the signing of a Double Taxation Agreement between both countries and to continue facilitating further business collaboration.
