“At yesterday’s 2nd Education Summit organised by the European Commission, I spoke of the need to include, and consider Early Childhood Education and Care as an intrinsic part of the education system, and part of a value chain. For this to happen, a wide-spread mind-shift is needed.
I also spoke how we, at Eurochild are firm believers of the importance of early childhood development. This is, in fact, the basis of a targeted campaign which Eurochild is working on, in collaboration with other organisations and alliances.
Early Childhood Education and Care is something that all European countries should invest in. When we invest in ECEC, we would be sowing the seeds, from a child’s early years, in the best of interest of the future of that same child, and of society as a whole.
Moreover, there needs to be a broader understanding of how investing in early childhood contributes to a wider range of better societal outcomes.”
