Fil-ħarġa tal-Ħadd, 5 ta’ Jannar, il-gazzetta ‘The Sunday Times of Malta’ rrappurtat li hemm numru ta’ tfal immigranti li qed jinżammu milli jmorru l-iskola minħabba raġunijiet burokratiċi. Il-Fondazzjoni ta’ Malta għall-Ġid tas-Soċjetà tingħaqad mal-Kummissarju għall-Edukazzjoni fl-appell tiegħu biex l-awtoritajiet kompetenti jaraw li t-tfal kollha residenti hawn Malta jkollhom aċċess għall-edukazzjoni. Mhux moralment aċċettabli li t-tfal, f’dan il-każ ulied imigranti li waslu Malta minn barra l-Unjoni Ewropea, jiċċaħdu mid-dritt fundamentali tal-edukazzjoni. Infurmata mill-Artiklu 28 tal-Konvenzjoni tal-Ġnus Magħquda dwar id-Drittijiet tat-tfal, il-Fondazzjoni, bħall-Kummissarju għall-Edukazzjoni, tistenna azzjoni mmedjata.
‘The Sunday Times of Malta’ (5th January 2019) reported that a number of children of migrants were not being allowed to attend school due to bureaucratic and procedural reasons. The Malta Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society would like to join in the appeal made by the Commissioner for Education for the competent authorities to ensure that all children who live in Malta have access to education. It is not morally acceptable for children, who are the offspring of non-EU migrants, to be deprived of their fundamental right to education. Informed by Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Foundation, like the Commissioner for Education, expects immediate action to the be taken to remedy this situation.
