Pedro Nuno Bártolo presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Ambassador Pedro Nuno Bártolo is currently Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Portugal in Rome, having presented his credentials in January 2019.
He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, and began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1983.
His recent positions include: Head of Cabinet of the Minister for Foreign Affairs (2002), Ambassador of Portugal to Tel Aviv (2003-2006), Chairman of Coreper 1 in Brussels (2007) and Ambassador of Portugal to Moscow (2009-2013), also accredited as non-resident Ambassador to Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Rome, he occupied the position of Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Portugal to the United Nations and Other International Organisations in Geneva (2013-2018).
