Ambassador of Guatemala Alfredo Vasquez Rivera presented his credentials to President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Ambassador Vasquez Rivera graduated in Political Science at the San Carlos University in Guatemala and has also attended the Diplomatic School in Madrid, and the Complutense University of Madrid. He also graduated at the Guatemala National Strategic Studies Center, and also holds a degree in Immigration and Naturalisation Law of the United States of America (University of Denver – Colorado Law School).
The Ambassador has served in various capacities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala for over 24 years; as Second Secretary at the South American Sub-Direction; Counselor in Regional Organizations; Deputy Director of Multilateral Policy for the United Nations; First Secretary and Consul at the Guatemalan Embassy in Brazil; General Consul for Guatemala in Vancouver, Canada; Consul General in Denver, Colorado; and as Ambassador of Guatemala to Israel from August 2010 to October 2016. Currently, Ambassador Vasquez Rivera is Ambassador of Guatemala to the Holy See, having presented the credentials to the Holy Father on 1st December 2016.
