Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway Margit F. Tveiten presented her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.
During the ceremony the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Margit F. Tveiten entered the Norwegian Foreign Service in 1988. She has served in the Legal Department and in the Department of European Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She held the post of Director General in the Legal Department between 2014 and 2017. She took up the position of Ambassador to the Republic of Italy and Ambassador Designate to the Republic of Malta and the Republic of San Marino on 28 August 2017. Ambassador Tveiten had also served as Ambassador to the Republic of Iceland between 2007 and 2010. She has also held the position of Head of the International Secretariat of the Norwegian Parliament, and worked as Director’s Assistant in the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Ambassador Tveiten holds a Master in Law (Cand. Jur.) from the University of Oslo and a Master of European Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, in addition to a Bachelor in Humanities (History of Ideas, Italian and German) from the University of Oslo and the University of Bergen.
Ambassador Tveiten was born on 27 August 1961. She is married and has two children.
