Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain Consuelo Femenia Guardiola presented her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Ambassador Guardiola holds an Advanced University Degree in Law from the University of Valencia, specializing in International Law, as well as a Master’s Degree in International Relations, from the Diplomatic School of Madrid.
In 1992, Ambassador Guardiola was appointed Second Secretary at the Embassy of Spain in Mosco, accredited to most of the newly independent republics of the “Community of Independent States”, a position which she held till 1995.
Between 1997 and 1999, Ambassador Guardiola served as Counsellor at the Embassy of Spain in The Hague, and between 2004 and 2008 occupied the roles of Advisor in the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Development Aid, and Deputy Director General for Cultural and Scientific Relations, within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid.
In 2010, the Ambassador was appointed Ambassador at large for the negotiations of the Arms Trade Treaty and other disarmament issues within the OSCE, a position which she held till March 2011, when she was appointed as Ambassador of Spain in Latvia, till August 2014.
Ambassador Guardiola is currently Deputy Director General for Digital and Public Diplomacy within the Directorate of Communication of the Spanish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Guardiola is married and has two children.
