The Ambassador of Lithuania Ričardas Šlepavičius presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Ambassador Ričardas Šlepavičius was appointed by the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on June 29, 2017 as the Ambassador to the Italian Republic, to the Republic of Malta, to the Republic of San Marino and to Libya, and as a permanent representative to FAO. Most recently, Mr. Šlepavičius worked as the Director of the Personnel Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
Mr. Šlepavičius has broad experience in European Affairs. From 2010 to 2014 he served as the Deputy Head of the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union.
From 2008 to 2009 he was the Deputy Director, and from 2009 to 2010, the Director of the Administrative Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. From 2005 to 2008 Mr. Šlepavičius was a Counsellor and Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ankara, Turkey. Before that, from 2003 to 2005 he served as the Counsellor of the President of the Republic of Lithuania. Mr. Šlepavičius also spent six years working in the Russian Federation: from 1996 to 1998 he served as the First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Russian Federation, and from 1998 to 2002 he was the Consul at the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Kaliningrad.
During his career, Mr. Šlepavičius received a memorial sign on the occasion of Lithuania’s invitation to NATO and a memorial sign on the occasion of Lithuania’s presidency of the Council of the EU.
