The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania presents her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca

 

On the 16th February 2017, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania, Anila Bitri Lani presented her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, Valletta.

During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.

Anila Bitri Lani is an Albanian diplomat, at present resident Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Italy and non-resident Ambassador to Malta and San Marino, as well as to FAO, FIDA and WFP.

She has held a number of positions in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, including Director of the Diplomatic Academy and Head of the Directorate of Bilateral Relations with Europe. During her diplomatic career, she was decorated with the Order of the Officer for Civil Merits from Juan Carlos I of Spain, as well as with the High Order of the Grand Dame of the Order of Catholic Isabella.

Ambassador of the Republic of Albania, Anila Bitri has an academic background. She is Professor at the World History Department of the University of Tirana. She teaches History of the middle Ages, European History and World History. Anila holds two doctoral degrees in Historical Sciences, one from the University of Granada and the other from the University of Tirana. She has undertaken post-graduate studies at the University of Sorbonne in Paris, at the University Alcala de Henares in Madrid and at the University of Granada.

In the early 90s Anila Bitri was involved in social activism aiming to initiate and encourage the Albanian feminist movement. She speaks Albanian, Spanish, Italian, French, English, Portuguese and Romanian. Anila is married and has a daughter.
