Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia Zyed Bouzouita presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
A Senior Career Diplomat Minister Plenipotentiary, Zyed Bouzouita graduated in public law and political science, was sworn in by President Béji Caid Essebsi as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Malta on September 28th 2017. Prior to this, he held many high-ranking positions both at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and abroad.
Ambassador Bouzouita had been since 2015 Chief Inspector at the Department of General Inspection at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where he also specialised in multilateral diplomacy by serving as Assistant Director at the General Directorate of Organizations and International Conferences between 2007 and 2010, Head of Division for Disarmament Affairs and Peacekeeping Operations from 1998 to 2002, and First Secretary at the Directorate General for the Americas and Asia from 1991 to 1994.
Mr. Bouzouita held many positions abroad tackling bilateral, multilateral and consular duties; he served as Consul of the Republic of Tunisia in Italy from 2010 to 2015, Deputy Permanent delegate to UNESCO, and First Counselor Substitute of the Ambassador at the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing from 2002 to 2007. He was also Counselor and Deputy of the Permanent Representative of Tunisia to Vienna from 1994 to 1998.
Ambassador Bouzouita was born in Tunis in 1966, is married and the father of two children. He speaks Arabic, English, French and Italian.
