Ms Başak Türkoğlu presented her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Graduated with a B.Sc. in International Relations the Middle East Technical University and with a M.A degree in European Political Cooperation, Ambassador Başak Türkoğlu joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey in 1990 as Attaché in the Department of Human Resources (1990 – 1991) and the Department of Defence Agreements (1991 – 1992). Ambassador Türkoğlu also served in the capacity of Attaché at the Deputy Directorate General for North America in 1992 and for three years as Vice Consul at the Turkish Consulate General in Antwerp/Belgium until 1997.
In 1997 Ambassador Türkoğlu worked as Third and Second Secretary at the Deputy Directorate General for Policy Planning and was later assigned as Second and First Secretary at the Turkish Embassy in Beijing until 2003. She served as First Secretary and Head of Section at the Deputy Directorate General for Energy, Water and Environmental Affairs during 2003 – 2005.
In 2005, she was entrusted as Counsellor within the Permanent Delegation of Turkey to the Council of Europe and in 2009 as Head of Department for the Council of Europe at the Head Quarters. She was then appointed as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Deputy Directorate General for the EU Affairs and in November 2014 she presented the Credentials in Kuala Lumpur accrediting her Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Malaysia until 2017.
