Nigel Fyfe presented his credentials to President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the High Commissioner discussed bilateral relations.
High Commissioner Fyfe is a career diplomat. Previous appointments include postings to New Zealand missions in Santiago as Ambassador, Brussels and New York as well as director roles in both the Trade Negotiations Division and Legal Division. High Commissioner Fyfe is also the Ambassador of New Zealand for Spain.
Prior to taking up his appointment in Madrid, High Commissioner Fyfe was Deputy Secretary – Lead Negotiator in the Office of Treaty Settlements at the Ministry of Justice, and was responsible for leading the Crown’s engagement with Ngapuhi towards a settlement under the Treaty of Waitangi.
High Commissioner Fyfe attended Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand where he studied Law graduating with an LLB with honours.
