Malta to host the next high-level global conference on the abolition of corporal punishment in 2018.

At the end of a two-day conference held in Vienna, entitled ‘Towards Childhoods Free from Corporal Punishment’, the Austrian Minister for Family and Youth, Sophie Karmasin announced that the next high-level global conference on the abolition of corporal punishment is to be held in Malta under the auspices of The President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

President Coleiro Preca said that, Malta being in such a geostrategic position in the Mediterranean, is the perfect country to host such an important conference, as it will seek to bring together representatives from all over to world, so that together “we can make this the last generation which perpetuates the lie that violence inflicted on children is ever acceptable”.
