Mr Edgar Preca launched Festa taċ-Ċitru 2018, which will be held on Sunday 14th January from 09:00am onwards at Sant’Anton Palace.
Mr Preca was joined by a group of schoolchildren from Qormi Primary School (St Sebastian), part of St Ignatius College, to pick the oranges from the orange grove at Sant’Anton Palace. Addressing the children present, Mr Preca spoke about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and how oranges and other citrus fruit should be a regular part of our daily diet.
During this year’s Festa taċ-Ċitru fresh oranges from the orange grove will be for sale, as well as cakes, muffins, jams and marmalades prepared by the Sant’Anton Palace kitchen staff. There will be stalls selling local artisan products, as Elaine Agius, Events Coordinator explained.

This is part of our ongoing long-term commitment to this event, organized by the Office of the President and other events which are organized by the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, which includes both financial and technical support. The Citrus Festival has now become a popular fixture for families looking for an entertaining Sunday outing through which funds are also raised for a good cause.”
Entrance for Festa taċ-Ċitru is free of charge and this activity is going to be held in aid of Animal Welfare NGOs.
