President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca gave a public lecture at the University of Bethlehem entitled ‘Tourism for Peace’. President Coleiro Preca spoke about how travel and the tourism industry is making it possible “for us to do so much, to achieve global peace.” She appealed to those present, and to tourism stakeholders, to lead by example, “to encourage dialogue, to nurture opportunities for friendship, to celebrate diversity, and to promote positive investments in peace around our world.”
“Let us continue to endeavour to make the tourism industry a model industry for the promotion of sustainability, peace, and prosperity, to ensure the best possible future for our Mediterranean region, and all of our human family”, the President said. Following the lecture, President Coleiro Preca was given a tour of the faculties of Bethlehem University, which is run by the De La Salle Brothers.
