- President of Malta and Patron of the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, and Union for the Mediterranean Secretary General Fathallah Sijilmassi discussed potential collaboration between the Union for the Mediterranean and the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation.
- The Union for the Mediterranean and the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation will be signing an MOU in the near future to collaborate on tangible tourism-related projects in the Mediterranean.
President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca visited the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean. During her visit, President Coleiro Preca was accompanied by the delegation from the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation—of which the President is Patron—the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, and a representative from the Ministry for Tourism.
During a bilateral meeting between the Maltese delegation and the delegation from the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean, President Coleiro Preca spoke about the vision and projects of the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation, stating that the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation aspires to bring people together through tangible projects, aimed at empowering the people of the Mediterranean, and beyond, to live dignified and prosperous lives, and also to achieve sustainable positive peace in the Mediterranean Region, and neighbouring regions.
President Coleiro Preca explained that the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation aims at bringing together public and private sector stakeholders, with an interest in tourism, across the Mediterranean region.
Secretary General Fathallah Sijilmassi congratulated the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation for its initiatives, and said that these projects fall in line with the Union’s approach to also tap into the tourism sector. Secretary General Sijilmassi agreed to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation.
