The President of Malta visits Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

This morning President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca visited the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre within the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Building in Melbourne.

 

President Coleiro Preca was shown around the state-of-the-art premises by Ms Dale Fisher, Chief Executive Officer and Professor Joseph Trapani, Executive Director of Cancer Research and Head of the Cancer Immunology Programme.

 

Whilst complimenting Ms Fisher and Professor Trapani for the outstanding architecture which facilitates its function and the priority given to prevention and research, the President expressed her satisfaction at the fact that a number of Maltese people are among the members of staff in its key departments.

 

President Coleiro Preca spoke about the National Cancer Platform which was founded by the Presidency and said that she looks forward to exploring new ways of how there can be collaboration between the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the National Cancer Platform.

 

Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre provides comprehensive cancer care, supported by the expertise of internationally-renowned cancer clinicians and researchers. It aims to lead the way in providing the very best in care for people with cancer, while working collaboratively to reduce the individual, social and economic impact which cancer has on communities.

 

During this visit the Maltese President was accompanied by Minister for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate Change, José Herrera.
