The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania presents her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

On the 3rd September 2015, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, Jolanta Balčiūnienė presented her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.

Jolanta Balčiūnienė was born on 16 October 1962 in Varniai, Lithuania. She is a graduate of Vilnius University in French language and literature and of National School of Administration of Paris (ENA) in International Relations. She was appointed as a consultant to the Chairman of the Lithuania’s Reconstituent Seimas (Parliament) in 1991 and as an Adviser to the Chairman of the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania from 1996 until 2000.  She joined permanently the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania in 2000 and was in charge of the issues of Bilateral Relations, Central Asia and South Caucasus as well as of Eastern Neighbourhood Policy.

Ambassador Balčiūnienė has served, from 2007 till 2008, as Minister Plenipotentiary in the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union. She was appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the French Republic from 2009 till 2014 and since 2014, she is the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Italian Republic. Jolanta Balčiūnienė is married to Dainius Balčiūnas and has two sons Justas and Jurgis.

During her career, she had the privilege to receive the following awards: Ordre National de la Légion d’honneur Chevalier (France) (1997), Royal Norwegian Order of Merit (1998), Ordre national de la Légion d’Honneur, Officier (France) (2001), Cross of Commander of the Order for Merits to Lithuania (2014), Ordre national du Mérite de la République française, grand officier (France) (2014).
